Siege and Abandonment of Powerful Medieval Castle on Turestorpsö, Svedala

Turestorpsö is a half-island in Havgårdssjön, situated within the Svedala commune. Here lies the remnants of Turestorps borg, a medieval castle that witnessed a significant part of history. In the late 1300s, the castle was the residence of Tuve Galen, a viceroy of the Danish king and a member of one of the most powerful families in Denmark. In 1382, the castle was besieged and captured. Later, Queen Margareta acquired the estate and donated it to Lunds domkyrka, effectively abandoning the castle. The castle's stone was even used to build St Petri kyrka in Malmö.
