The Maritime Museum & Aquarium in Göteborg is not just a museum, but a monument to Dan Broström, a Swedish shipping magnate who donated millions to see it built. Founded by the Nautiska Föreningen in 1912, the brainchild of Werner Lundqvist, its origins lie a decade earlier, in 1923, when the collections were moved to Göteborgs jubileumsutställning. In 1933, the museum was officially opened by King Gustaf V.
