Kulionys hillfort

Kulionys hillfort is an archaeological site located in Molėtai region, Lithuania. Its exact location is near the confluence of Želvų and Trinktinio lakes, on the southern bank of Želvų lake. The hillfort is considered an archaeological monument and was declared as such in 1998.

Archaeological evidence suggests that the Kulionys hillfort was inhabited during the Iron Age. Recently excavated artifacts from the site include burnt wooden remains, pottery, carved bone fragments, and signs of smoked deer antlers. These artifacts provide insights into the lives of those who once lived at the hillfort.

Although no specific gate was mentioned in the source material, the fact that Kulionys hillfort is surrounded by woods and has a 22-meter-deep and 1.2-meter-wide ditch in its southern part, as well as another 92-meter-deep and 1.2-meter-wide ditch, suggests that it may have had some form of defense or protection system.
