Johannisborg, the ruin of a castle in Norrköping Municipality, Östergötland County, Sweden, was intended to be one of the royal castles of the kingdom. Its construction was commissioned by King Gustav II Adolf in 1614, and Hans Fleming, a Flemish architect, was entrusted with the project. By 1618, the castle was largely completed. However, the king's plans were cut short when he was deposed, leading to a halt in construction. Tragically, the fortress, which had never been completed, was destroyed by fire during the Russian invasion of Sweden in 1719.
