At the very heart of Coptic Cairo, Egypt, one finds the Cave Church - an ancient Coptic Christian sanctuary, echoing with the tales of the 7th century. This magical refuge is a remnant of time, reminiscent of a chronicled past and mythology, drawing wanderers and pilgrims from miles afar. The Cave Church, atop the remains of the Roman fortress of Babylon, honors the early Coptic architectural style. The current structure, set atop Roman ruins, is a silent testament to a faded era. Deep beneath the church, a crypt offers refuge to the Holy Family - not within the church, but below it. This sacred place, once a haven to the Holy Family during their journey through Egypt, is also renowned as the Church of Martyrs Sergius and Bacchus.
