Despite a cable break in 1913, the bridge survived and was toll-free until 1950. After that, significant repairs in 1978 replaced the wooden deck with a system of metal caissons. The support, with its unusual arch, serves to manage the floodwaters that once threatened this bridge and the settlements along the river. The bridge was inscribed on the list of historical monuments on February 7, 1990.
