The Church of Saint Mary of the Castle

Built over several centuries, the Church of Saint Mary of the Castle in Torrecilla de la Orden (Province of Valladolid, Castilla y León, Spain) features an intriguing blend of architectural styles: Mudéjar and Renaissance. Construction on the Mudéjar-style portion of the tower began in the 15th century, while the Renaissance influence emerged in the 16th and 17th centuries. The church boasts three separate naves, separated by pillars, with a vault of plaster in the central nave and barrel vaults with lunettes in the lateral naves.

The main chapel is graced with a lowered cupola adorned with a mudéjar wooden ceiling, while the altarpiece is an intricate plateresque piece worth a visit. The tower is crowned by a Baroque dome in octagon form, with void arches on each of its eight sides capped by a smaller dome.
