The Giralda of Castilla: A Soaring Tower Church in Nava del Rey

Nava del Rey, Valladolid, Castilla y León, Spain, is home to the Church of Saints Juanes, a Monumento del Patrimonio Histórico de España, commonly known as the ‘Giralda of Castilla’ due to its striking tower. This church was built in the 16th century and given BIC status in 1931. Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón began the construction, with Felipe de la Cajiga completing the design afterwards. The church features two main doors: one dedicated to San Juan Bautista, the other to San Juan Evangelista. The church houses the retablo Mayor, created by Francisco Velázquez, Francisco Martínez, and Gregorio Fernández in the early 17th century.
