A 1616 Manor in Premiá de Mar, Hiding a Roman Past

Can Manent, a basilica-style structure in Premiá de Mar, Maresme, is a protected local cultural asset. Constructed in 1616, it boasts three crugies and features a main entrance with a half-point arch that is dovetailed. The remaining openings are quadrangular, adorned with carved stones for brancals, lintels, and sills. Two lateral doors on the ground floor were added later. A porch was constructed at an angle (E) with the façade in the 19th century. A barn-like structure is attached to the back. Currently, Can Manent is utilized as a Museum and Library in Premiá de Mar. Evidence of fragments of ceramics from various periods, including Iberian, Roman, and even potential signs of a Roman settlement, have been found around Can Manent and reused in its construction.
