The Casal de la Dona in Sant Adrià de Besòs

Originally a residential home, this building in Sant Adrià de Besòs has served as a school, a courthouse, and a clinic before becoming a women's center in 1984.

Originally a residential home from the mid-18th century, the building located on Plaça de la Constituació was acquired by the townhall in 1885 through an exchange with Agustí Lloberas. Following this acquisition, the house was refurbished to improve its image and served as the municipal townhall for a period. It functioned as a school until 1943, when it became the home for the municipal courthouse and civil registry.

Following the relocation of the townhall, the premises housed the local headquarters of the FET de las JONS. After a complete renovation, the building was used as a clinic before its current purpose began. In 1984, it was opened as the Casal de la Dona, managed by the association of women of Sant Adrià.

Architecturally, the building features a rectangular plan with a two-pitched Arab tile roof and a facade facing Plaça de la Constitució. Its exterior is finished with cold plaster imitating natural stone, highlighting architectural elements like cornices and a semi-circular frontispiece. The interior is notable for its staircase with artificial stone steps and an iron railing with vertical bars.
