Font de la Placeta Macià: A blend of modernist and classical architecture

Located in Sant Adrià de Besòs, the Font de la Placeta Macià, built in 1956, stands as a tribute to Francesc Maciá. Its architecture combines modernist and classical elements, a creation commissioned by the town council to architect Johan Roura i Ferrater i Ducati. The fountain's centerpiece is a granite basin, with pedestals on each side, topped by a boy holding a globe. Originally, a stone figure was used, replaced with a black cast reproduction in 2002. Water flows into the basin from a fountain-shaped spout, capped by a classical lion relief. The original semicircular staircase to access the fountain was replaced by rectangular steps. The Font de la Placeta Macià is a listed local Cultural Interest Asset (BCIL).
