The Basilique Notre-Dame de Montligeon is a venerable place of pilgrimage in La Chapelle-Montligeon, a commune in the Perche region of France. Founded in the 1880s by the ambitious Abbé Paul Buguet, it forms part of a much larger sanctuary complex. Originally a centre for prayers for the wellbeing of the deceased, it received the title of basilica minor from Pope Pius XI in 1928. As the restoration of the church nears completion in 2011, the sanctuary and its many buildings continue to offer services for visitors and parishioners.
