Standing stones of Mora: the coronation site of medieval kings

The Standing Stones of Mora, located in Knivsta, Sweden, serve as a historical monument. They were the site of Mora Thing, where several Medieval kings of Sweden were proclaimed. Mora Stones were originally named Mora sten, referring to the stone on which the newly elected king stood. Today, the fragments of the stones are contained in a building constructed by local military officer Carl Wijnbladh. Some of the documented elections at Mora include Magnus III in 1275, Magnus IV in 1319, and Christian I in 1457. It is believed that Mora Stones were destroyed in a civil war in the 16th century, but the exact details are unclear.
