The Aldobrandesca Fortress, located in Capalbio, Italy, dates back to the medieval period. In the year 1200, the abbey of the Three Fountains of Rome took possessions of the fortress, which was then fortified further by the Aldobrandeschi family, who controlled it until the end of the 14th century, when the Orsini family of Pitigliano took over. However, Capalbio and its rocca were quickly under the Counts of Orsini due to the conquest by the Sienese at the beginning of the 15th century. The fortress then passed to the Republic of Siena and was restored, allowing the architectural monument to retain its current appearance. Over time, it also hosted renowned figures like Giacomo Puccini, who often slept in the Tower of the Cutting near the fortress.
