Nether Alderley Mill

Nether Alderley Mill is a 16th-century watermill along the A34, south of Nether Alderley village, Cheshire, England. It is unique for having a triple overshot waterwheel system, two of which are in working order. This design enables the mill to produce more power than typical watermills. The mill was built in 1595-1597, replacing an earlier 14th-century structure. Undergoing several expansions and improvements throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, the mill was owned by the Stanley family for a while and is now owned by the National Trust. A Grade II* listed building, Nether Alderley Mill is one of only four virtually complete corn mills in Cheshire.
