From a Small Church to a Multipurpose Place of Worship: The Expansion of

In 1873, John Douglas constructed a church in Hartford, Cheshire, England. Consecrated in 1875, the Church soon proved too small due to an increasing number of parishioners. In 1887, a tower was added to the building. In the 1920s, an east-wall choir vestry was constructed. The pipe organ was replaced with an electronic one in 1990. The roof was refurbished in 1993, and pews were replaced with chairs in 1994. A significant extension, including additional seating, toilets, and a kitchen, was added to the west end between 1997 and 1998. With various groups, cafes, and community activities, this Evangelical parish church continues to be active, offering regular services and a busy mid-week program.
