Situated in Lleida's Centre Històric, the Mercat del Pla is a building protected as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local. It is characterized as a Noucentista work, featuring a rectangular nave with a single light and a semi-subterranean level. The facade features stone socle and exposed masonry pillars, while the interior remains completely free.
The building is situated on the site where military barracks once stood, occupying the location of the old university. It ceased operating as a municipal market in 2003. Although a project to convert it into a supermarket and art gallery was planned in 2006, the winning company withdrew from the contract.
In 2014, the site opened as a fashion outlet with ephemeral shops in nearby plots. This period of commercial use ended in 2017 when the facility closed.
