Medelpads runinskrifter 4

The rune stone, M 4, in Sundsvall Municipality is one of the Medelpads rune stones. It was discovered in 1810 in Attmarby and now stands outside Attmar Church in Sundsvall Municipality, Sweden. The inscription is only partially preserved and was transliterated, normalized, and translated to nusvenska in 1810. It is believed to have been carved by more than one rune carver. The inscription names a man called Ingvarr who is believed to have been buried there. The inscription raises questions about who commissioned the rune carving and what the last words mean. The stone was relocated from its original site in Attmarby to its current location outside Attmar Church.
