ABBA's Famous Music Studio

ABBA's Famous Music Studio

On May 18, 1978, ABBA manager Stikkan Andersson opened Polar Music Studios at S:t Eriksbron in premises that had previously housed both a sports palace and a cinema. The first ABBA song produced in the studio became Summer Night City. Most of Voulez-Vous, almost the entire Super Trouper and the entirety of The Visitors were recorded here. The video for Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) was also filmed at the studio. A few years later, Björn and Benny recorded the musical Chess in the same premises. Other famous artists who used the studio include The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. In 2004, Polar Music Studios closed for good.
