In his book World as Kungsholmen from 1993, author Olov Svedelid describes his upbringing on S:t Eriksgatan: 'My school route was different, but I used to walk Pontonjärgatan till Pilgatan, the furthest stretching fence that resembled joined high lances at the Garnisonssjukhuset, where one could see convalescents in their grey hospital gowns strolling around in the large park on warm days.' Svedelid is also known for his detective novels about police officer Roland Hassel.
