The German WWI emplacement, Langer Max, was a 380mm SKL/45 gun built in 1916, located in Semide, Ardennes department, France. Constructed secretly from the villagers, Langer Max features a semi-circular concrete platform with a diameter of 24 meters. German industry designed the gun before World War 1, intended for land combat rather than the navy. Operated by the Marine-Sonderkommando Schulte, the gun located southward had a maximum range of 38.7 kilometers in 1916. It fired 24 or 25 shells towards Saint-Hilaire-au-Temple and Sainte-Menehould. Classified as a historic monument in 1922, it remains a fascinating relic from World War I.
