Fossum's ancient rock carvings: a journey into the Bronze Age

The Fossum stone carvings, located in Tanum's commune, Bohuslän, date back to the Scandinavian Bronze Age, around 1800-1000 BC. Part of the hullristningsområdet in Tanum, Fossum is situated near LandVäg 163, just a few kilometers east of Tanum’s church. The häll showcases various motifs such as hunting scenes, flutes, ship, and animal images. A large number of men with typical Bronze Age axes, bows, and swords are scattered across the entire häll. The motifs on what are commonly referred to as 'boats' are grouped under each other.
