The Enigmatic Hogastenen: Sweden's Viking-Age Runestone Mystery in Orust

Hogastenen, also known as Ramund's Häll, is a runestone in Hoga, Stala socken on Orust in Bohuslän, Sweden. Raised around the year 800, it stands as Orust's only known runestone, created during the Viking Age. The runes on the Hogastenen have been challenging to decipher since they were engraved in a single row. Among the proposed translations for the inscription are: 'Ior in Åm created this stone here on the kullen.' Another suggested interpretation is 'Haur in (the farm)A (market) made this stone after Ramund.' A third interpretation, proposed by Magnus Källström, is similar to the Norwegian Tustenen: '.this stone.'
