Commissioned by Arnold the VI from Sierck in 1419, the Malbrouck Fortress, also known as the Château de Meinsberg, had been that name for a century or so. Then, with history being a fickle lady, the castle changed hands, ended up with a new crew. It was in 1648 when ol' Louis from Bettainvillers took the reins, renamed the joint 'Mansberg'. During the flamin' War of the Spanish Succession, this castle played a starring role as a temporary base camp for John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough, making it a hotspot for conflict. Today, it stands as a historical artifact, its sturdy corners whispering tales of the tumultuous past, and hidden defense mechanisms chattering about the region's tumultuous past. Constructed in 1419 and completed in 1434, the Malbrouck Castle carries the pulse of history within its stones.
