Blenheim Palace is a country house in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, constructed between 1704 and 1722. The name of the palace comes from the Battle of Blenheim in 1704, where the British forces, led by the Duke of Marlborough, defeated the combined French and Bavarian forces.
The Duke was given the land upon which the palace stands as a reward for his victory, along with the funds to raise the palace. However, political infighting jeopardized the construction of the palace, leading to the suspension of funding after several years.
The English Baroque style was used in the design of Blenheim Palace. Today, the palace is owned by the Dukes of Marlborough and serves as the family residence. The Churchill family has lived in the palace for over 300 years.
