Birthplace of a Saint Hidden in a Spanish City

Originally designed as a civil Gothic-style urban castle in the 15th century, the Ducal Palace in Gandia, Spain, was the residence of the Royal Dukes of Gandía from the 14th century and the birthplace of Saint Francis Borja. The palace was eventually transformed into a comfortable fortified palace, restored and turned into a sanctuary by the Society of Jesus. The main entrance, a robust door with a rounded arch, and the hallways are the oldest elements of the Gothic palace. A visit to the Ducal Palace offers a quiet and historic experience.
