Bernotų piliakalnis

Bernotai Hill Fort, located near Girija upelis river bank in the territory of the municipalities of Vilniaus region, comprises an area around a natural hill approximately 12 meters high that has a width of 90 x 13-15 meters. Ditches surrounded the hill, with the hill slope towards Girija upelis river in the west, rises in the north, and gently declines in the east. An ancient settlement remains are located nearby, about 0.1 km to the north – Bernotų kapinys.

Archaeological research on the hill was conducted by the Lithuanian Institute of History in 1987. Samples of pottery, clay bricks, and metal objects testifying to human life in these areas in the 1st–12th centuries were found. These findings are kept at the National Museum of Lithuania. The hillfort has an ancient settlement remains nearby, about 0.1 km to the north – Bernotų kapinys.
