Bell Tower on the Roof of an 12th-century Church

The Església de Santa Eugènia de Berga in the municipality of Santa Eugènia de Berga (Osona), declared a Cultural Property of National Interest, was built in the 12th century. Its structure comprises a single nave and three absides. The exterior features geometric patterns and vegetal and animal motifs, while the interior has been beautifully restored. Atop the cross-vaulted cimborium, sits a bell tower, supported by four arches reinforced by edges. Each story features a bell. The second and third stories are adorned with pilasters, cec conquests, and saw-tooth decorations. To reach the tower, a movable stairway ascends from a niche on the north side of the building. This bell tower, unique among regional churches, adds to the allure of this historic place.
