This ain't your regular tower, buddy. This one's a quaint 72-foot (22m) Aermotor Company creation, built way back in 1936. It's the only one left standing in a wilderness area near Big Creek, Idaho. That 7x7-foot (2.1x2.1m) galvanized steel cab's a sight to behold, alright. The history of this tower winds all the way back to 1936 when it was first erected. It even received a spot on the US National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The tower, along with two contributing buildings - a log cabin residence and a standard type outhouse - and one contributing structure, the fire tower itself, earned their historic credentials. The cabin joined the crew in 1939, serving as a cozy digs for the fire lookouts. It kept the watch until 1997, when it retirement time came around. But I reckon you ain't gonna take my word for it. You gotta saddle up and experience this piece of history for yourself.
