Ancient relics: Maciuičių piliakalnis - a fortified hill in the bend of the

Maciuičių piliakalnis, situated near the village of Minija, is a fortified hillock in the territory of Klaipėda region's municipal administration. It is located on the left bank of the Minija River. The oval-shaped hillock has a diameter of 47 meters and a height of 1 meter from base to top. The hillock slopes slightly to the right, with a height of 2-6 meters. The hillock was fortified with ditches at some point in the past. The most recent investigations of Maciuičių piliakalnis were conducted in 2002 by Linas Tamulis. The archaeological study of Maciuičių piliakalnis uncovered a plot of approximately 43.5 square meters. Findings from the archaeological study date the hillock to the early Iron Age. Findings from the archaeological study include remains of II-I millennium BC dwelling houses, ceramics, and findings from the 16th century.
