Beneath the Legendary King Anund's Burial Mound: Uncovering Hidden Viking Ships

Anundshög, a colossal burial mound near Västerås, Västmanland, is the largest in Sweden with a diameter of 60 metres and an astounding height of 9 metres. Its era varies between the Bronze Age and the late Iron Age, with a fireplace under the mound dated by radiocarbon dating to between AD 210 and 540. The mound, possibly associated with the legendary King Anund, showcases a large runestone that reads: 'Folkvid raised all of these stones after his son Heden, Anund's brother. Vred carved the runes.'
