A historical pilgrimage site in Spain's Garrotxa region

Sant Sepulcre de Palera, located in Beuda, in the comarca of Garrotxa, Catalonia, Spain, is a Benedictine monastery with a rich history. It was consecrated by Bishop Berengar of Berga around the 11th century, becoming part of the monastery of Santa Maria de la Grasse until the 16th century. During this time, it operated as a regular monastery. However, in the 16th century, it was no longer under the abbey of la Grassa. It became a pilgrimage centre known as Santo Domingo de Palera, although the exact timing of this transformation is not clear. Despite being desecrated in 1936 and losing several figures and parts of altarpieces, it remained a significant site, becoming a Bien de Interés Cultural site on 24 September 1964. Today, it continues to draw visitors interested in history, architecture, and pilgrimage.
