A museum in London that brings the world's arts and cultures together

The Victoria & Albert Museum (abbreviated V&A) is the world's largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts, and design. Originated in 1832, it was not named the Victoria & Albert Museum until 1899. The museum houses a permanent collection of over 2.8 million objects, from ancient history to the present day. The collection includes works from Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia, with a particular focus on East Asian ceramics and metalwork, and the Islamic world. The museum has six sites in the United Kingdom, with the main site in London's South Kensington. It is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and entrance is free.
