The hunting ground that became a gathering place

Hyde Park, one of London's Royal Parks, has quite an impressive history. Established by Henry VIII in 1536 as a hunting ground, it was later opened to the public in 1637. But the park's story did not end there. It rapidly became a popular gathering place, hosting major events such as the Great Exhibition in 1851 and the Chartists' protests in the 19th century. Even today, it remains a lively space decorated with statues and monuments reminding us of its past.
