Enfield's 1832 Greek Revival on a dancing ground from the 17th

Walk two Enfield Street miles, witness history: Greek Revival house, church, ex-town hall, settled on an old parade ground from 1600s.

The Enfield Historic District bows along Enfield Street, tie to the 17th century. Town lots divided like strips, houses on street, farming on leftovers. The grandest historic resides in Orrin Thompson, born 1832. Founder of Enfield's carpet-making businesses, Thompson faces the old parade ground from the 1600s. The 1848 Congregational Church and the ex-town hall also share the district. The town of Enfield, birthed in 1683, dances beside it. Enfield Street, main road, was planned early, as houses near the road show. What remains was used for farming.
