Villa Spinola Narisano, once Palazzo Spinola Narisano, is an aged Genoese patrician villa, ensconced in the Cornigliano district of Genoa. The present structure, skillfully crafted by Giovanni Ponzello between 1559 and 1563 for Paolo Spinola, looms over an older building that previously occupied the site. But what chilling tales await us beneath that cryptic timeline? This villa boasts a history that stretches back over six centuries. Who, pray tell, first laid claim to this capricious villa?
(Answer: the records indicate Antonio Spinola as the proprietor in 1411. After Antonio, Leonello Spinola inherited it in 1473 and yet again in 1496. Bartolomeo Spinola served as its interim owner from 1555 to 1558. Ultimately, the edifice we see today would rise upon the old foundation between 1559 and 1563. In 1561, even Paolo Spinola was granted the authority to alter the villa's wall along the public street. Suspiciously, it remains a riddle what secrets this wall conceals.
