Vieškūnų piliakalnis (also known as Šuneliškių kalnas) is located in Kaunas region, Palemone, in the territory of the former Vieškūnų settlement, but also between Lakštingalų slope and Pažaislio yacht club. Known to be one of the best-preserved hillforts in Lithuania, it was discovered only in 1992. The geležinkelio (Palemono) fortification trenches and bunkers can still be seen nearby. The hillfort is also a reminder of ships sunk in Kaunos mariai, and the stone at the hillfort carries the memory of these sunken ships. Some believe that the ancient weapons found in the hillfort might be the reason why Kaunas mariai is so famous today.
