The Relocation of Norslundastenen: A Viking Voyager's Memorial in Stockholm

Norslundastenen, Upplands runinskrifter 419, is a runestone found in Uppland, Sweden. Originally, it stood in Norrsunda, a parish in the Uppland region. In the 15th century, it was moved to Skansen, an open-air museum and park in Stockholm that opened in 1891. The stone was relocated in memory of Östen, a Viking warrior who was interred around the 10th century in Gamla Mälaren. The runic content of the Norslundastenen was ornamented with a rune orb in profile containing a simple Christian cross. The inscription reads: Kylving and Stenfrid and Sigfast let erect this stone in memory of Östen, Gunnar's son, may God help his soul.
