The world's longest church: Liverpool Cathedral

Liverpool Cathedral, or the Cathedral Church of Christ in Liverpool, is located on St James's Mount in Liverpool, England. It is the seat of the Bishop of Liverpool and the mother church of the Diocese of Liverpool. Constructed from 1904 to 1978, the cathedral is the longest church within the UK, with an external length of 621 feet (189 meters). The cathedral is also the tallest non-spired church building in the world with a height of 331 feet (101 meters). The total internal length of the cathedral is 480 feet (146 meters). Liverpool Cathedral ranks as the fifth-largest cathedral in the world in terms of overall volume. Despite its size, it is a Grade I listed building. John Ryle was the first Bishop of Liverpool, appointed in 1880, but the diocese had no cathedral at the time.
