The statue on Västerås Domkyrkoplan, a square in Västerås, Sweden, is a work of Carl Milles. Commissioned in October 1922, the lifesize sculpture, titled 'Solen som ängeln lyfter', was unveiled on June 14, 1923, marking the 300th anniversary of Rudbeckianska gymnasium. The statue is a depiction of Johannes Rudbeckius, who served as bishop from 1619 to 1646. Known for its Latin inscriptions, 'Herren är vår starkhet' and 'Himlen och solen, ingenting sämre följer jag', the statue has been plagued by theft. The most recent theft occurred in August 2009 and the inscriptions were recovered the next day.
