The statue, crafted by Swedish artist Theodor Lundberg, depicts an image believed to represent Olaus Petri. The statue's marble sockets, designed by Fredrik Lilljekvist, bear inscriptions that provide a historical account of Storkyrka church until the year 1743, with the most noteworthy being the reason behind Olaus Petri's insistence for the mass to be held in Swedish, instead of Latin.
