Discovering ancient civilizations: an in-depth look at the archaeological site

Located in Cardenosa, province of Avila, Spain, Las Cogotas is an archaeological site that bears witness to two distinct prehistoric cultures. The site's name comes from Cogotas I, a pre-Celtic culture, and Cogotas II, a Celtic culture unearthed by researcher Juan Cabré during his studies in the 1920s. Cogotas II is associated with the Vettones, a people who inhabited portions of modern-day Avila, Salamanca, Toledo, Zamora, Cáceres, and Tras-os-Montes in Portugal. These Vettones were believed to be of Celtic origin, and they played a crucial role in the development of Cogotas I culture, also known as the Cogeces horizon, which thrived from 1700-1550 BC.
