The forgotten tanneries of Ávila, Spain

The Old Tanneries in Ávila are a cultural heritage site in Ávila, Spain, located in the western outskirts of the city near the Roman church of San Segundo. Originally in operation from the 14th to the mid-16th century, these tanneries were abandoned in the 16th century, and new curing facilities were built on their ruins. The new facilities continued in operation for about two centuries before being used for agricultural purposes in the middle of the 20th century. Declared a cultural heritage site on June 24, 2010, these tanneries date back to the 14th century.
