Located in Sidi al-Houari near Mount Marjaju, the Palais du Bey is a historic palace in Oran, Algeria, dating back to the Ottoman era. Commissioned by Muhammad Bey the Great in 1792, the palace was built in the 18th century and currently serves as a popular spot for both domestic and foreign tourists.
The palace covers an area of approximately 5.6 hectares and is categorized as a national heritage site. Its architecture, designed by Edmond Combarel, includes a diwan (public room), a suite, a harem, and several adjacent facilities. The complex also features two guard towers that date back to 1345 during the Marinid era.
Throughout its history, the palace has served various functions, including housing barracks that were used as horse stables by both the Ottomans and the French. Today, the site remains a significant historical landmark preserved as part of the national heritage.
