The Monument to the Heroes of Puente Sampayo

The Monument to the Heroes of Puente Sampayo, created by Spanish sculptor Julio González Pola in 1911, is a tribute to the courage and resolve of the people of Galicia during the Peninsular War. The monument honors the victory of the Pontevedra people over the French army, which was under the command of Marshall Michel Ney, during the Battle of Puente Sampayo on 7 and 8 June 1809.
