The grand palace in Galicia, Spain: a Baroque beauty with a rich history

The Palace of Rial is a magnificent manor house located in the parish of Sobrán, in the town of Vilagarcía de Arousa, Pontevedra, Spain. It was built in the 17th century in the Baroque style, and it stands on a hill overlooking the surrounding lands. The building is made of granite and is rectangular in plan. It is a grand example of Galician Baroque architecture, adorned with gargoyles, powerful chimneys and various coats of arms. The Palace of Rial is flanked by two towers, and its central body and the tops of the towers display coats of arms that represent the families that lived there. Among these families are the Ozores, Soutomaior, Sarmiento, and the Mariño de Lobeira family, with a serpent, waves, wolves, and a mail star. The Palace also has a chapel and a granary. The Palace of Rial is the most important of the manor houses in Vilaxoán.
