Oulchy-le-Château: Home to the Monument National de la Seconde Bataille de la

The Monument National de la Seconde Bataille de la Marne is a war memorial in Oulchy-le-Château, in the department of Aisne, France. Constructed by Paul Landowski, the monument stands at the exact location where the resolution of the Second Battle of the Marne was decided in 1918. The statue of France, symbolized by a woman with a round shield, is the first sculpture in the monument, representing victory and hope. The base of the monument consists of a series of four times four steps, symbolizing the four years of the war.

The group sculpture, Les Fantômes, is positioned at the top of the butte and depicts eight men with their eyes closed, searching for their missing comrades. Two steles are placed on each side of the statue representing France, inscribed with the history of the July 1918 battles. The total height of the monument, including the statue and steps, is 8 meters.
