Once belonging to the Avalos family, a Spanish dynasty who ruled much of Italy, their power loosened in the 16th century by the ambitions of other Italian nobles. Although the Avalos family was driven out of Naples, they resided in Spain, and this palace is linked to both Their history and the dynasty’s Italian legacy. However, another intriguing story linked to this Neapolitan palace is that it houses the Museo de la Fotografia, connecting to the history of optics and to the photographer who captured the 1964 World's Fair, an event that took place here in Naples.
