The golden ring that tracks the sun

In 1993, the Swedish artist Claes Hake created Solringen, a 4.4-metre-tall aluminium ring that now stands in Renströmsparken, in front of the university buildings Humanisten and Universitetsbiblioteket in Göteborg, Sweden. It serves both as a work of art and a sundial, casting a cone of shadows and tracking the movement of the sun. There is also a patinated bronze version of the ring in Hjørring, Denmark, as part of the fountain sculpture Ringen.
