The Hotel Del Prado is a historic apartment hotel located at 5307 S. Hyde Park Boulevard in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1918, it stands as the oldest of several apartment hotels constructed in the area during the late 1910s and 1920s.
During this period, Hyde Park saw growth in both population and prestige, creating a demand for more housing. Apartment hotels became a fashionable choice because they combined the amenities and prestige of hotels with the affordability of apartments. The building originally featured 198 apartments along with commercial space on its first and second floors.
Designed by Sherman T. Cooper in a Neoclassical style, the building features Palladian windows on its lower floors and terra cotta trim throughout its exterior. Carved American Indian heads are positioned atop terra cotta columns. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 14, 1986.
